Wireless charging is a standard premium feature on one of the new Moto G handsets that Motorola has unveiled for 2024.
The Moto G 5G (2024) and Moto G Power 5G (2024), which were both unveiled today and will begin selling later this month, are both reliable low-cost smartphones.
The most recent Moto G 5G is a smartphone that sells for $199 and features a 6.6-inch 120Hz display with Gorilla Glass, a 50MP primary back camera, and a Snapdragon 4 Gen 1 processor. Along with RAM Boost, which uses some of that storage to increase the 4GB of RAM to 8GB, you get 128GB of storage. It also features a faux leather finish, which is uncommon at this price range, and a 5,000 mAh battery with 18W charging via USB-C.
The Moto G 5G (2024) will go on sale on March 22 through T-Mobile and Metro, but practically every US carrier, including Google Fi, Cricket, AT&T, Verizon, Visible, Boost Mobile, and US Cellular, will also carry it soon. By May 2, you may purchase it unlocked from Best Buy, Amazon, and the Motorola website.
The more intriguing of the two is the Moto G Power 5G (2024). Along with the same faux leather, 6.6-inch 120Hz display, 5,000 mAh battery, and 128GB of storage, it is similar. It boasts a 50MP primary camera as well, upgraded to 30W wired charging and featuring OIS this time.
The fact that this is the first Moto G with wireless charging, however, is the major news.
Up to 15W of wireless charging is possible for the Moto G Power 5G (2024), which is half the price of other handsets that can do the same. This feature is quite uncommon for devices that cost less than $600.
The Moto G Power 5G will go on sale at T-Mobile and Metro on March 21 for $299, and in the weeks that follow, it will be available on almost all other carriers. On May 2, it will also be available unlocked on the Motorola website, Best Buy, and Amazon.
Both smartphones come pre-installed with Android 14 (with no word on when future upgrades will be released) and support NFC, a feature that prior Moto G models have sometimes neglected to incorporate.
