Bajaj Auto has announced a significant achievement for its Chetak electric scooter, which recorded 20,000 bookings in July 2024 alone. Recently, the company launched the new Chetak 2901 variant, starting at Rs. 95,998 (ex-showroom, Bengaluru). In a bid to reach a broader audience, Bajaj has also been expanding its Chetak Experience Centres.

The Chakan-based manufacturer has credited its dealerships in smaller towns, known as Tier 2 cities, for playing a crucial role in expanding the reach of the Chetak e-scooter across India. Now available at 2,000 sales outlets nationwide, the Chetak 2901 entry-level model offers a claimed riding range of 123 km on a single charge and comes equipped with a host of features.

These features include a colored digital display with Bluetooth connectivity and alloy wheels. Buyers also have the option to purchase the Lifetime Tec Pac, which unlocks additional features such as Hill Hold, Reverse, Sport and Economy modes, call and music controls, ‘Follow Me Home’ lights, and Bluetooth App connectivity. Lime Yellow, Azure Blue, Black, White, and Red are the five color possibilities for the Chetak.

The Bajaj Chetak lineup starts at Rs. 1.35 lakh for the Urbane variant, while the top-end Premium variant is priced at Rs. 1.58 lakh (ex-showroom). All models in the lineup can be enhanced with the optional Tec Pac, which includes app connectivity, call management, music control, geo-fencing for added security, and access to various ride modes, allowing customers to tailor the scooter to their specific needs.

Additionally, the Chetak Premium, Chetak Urbane, and Chetak 2901 variants are eligible for the Electric Mobility Promotion Scheme (EMPS) subsidy provided by the Ministry of Heavy Industries (MHI). The Bajaj Chetak features a 4.2 kW electric motor and a battery pack with up to 3.2 kWh capacity, boasting an IP67 water-resistance rating. It offers a claimed driving range of approximately 127 km on a single charge, and the battery can be fully recharged in about four and a half hours. The scooter is built on a tubular steel underbone-type frame, with an offset monoshock rear suspension and single-sided front sprint for a balanced ride.
