When Hades II transitions from Early Access to its full v1.0 release later this year, Nintendo will be front and center for the console launch. A recent “Creator’s Voice” promotional video, highlighted by Kotaku, reinforced what Supergiant Games had shared earlier in an FAQ: when it comes to consoles, At first, Hades II will only be accessible on the Nintendo Switch and the soon-to-come Switch 2.

The video explicitly mentions that Hades II will “launch first for consoles on Nintendo Switch 2,” making it clear that PlayStation and Xbox players will need to wait before the sequel becomes available on those platforms. This aligns with Supergiant’s April 2 FAQ update, where the developer confirmed that their current focus is solely on the PC (Steam and Epic), Mac, and Nintendo Switch/Switch 2 versions. While not ruling out releases for other systems, those platforms are not currently on the roadmap for the initial launch.

Supergiant also confirmed to Engadget that the game will release simultaneously across its supported platforms-meaning PC, Mac, Switch, and Switch 2 users will all gain access on the same day once the game exits Early Access.

This release strategy mirrors the approach taken with the original Hades, which launched first on PC, Mac, and Nintendo Switch before making its way to PlayStation 4/5 and Xbox Series X/S and One consoles.

To ease any doubts about the game’s performance on Nintendo hardware, Supergiant reassured players that both Switch versions are optimized to run at a smooth 60 frames per second. The Switch 2 edition will also take advantage of the upgraded 1080p display for a more vibrant visual experience.

Although a precise v1.0 release date hasn’t been announced, the full launch is targeted for 2025. Since entering Early Access last spring, Hades II has already seen significant updates, including the recent Warsong Update in February, which introduced the god Ares, revamped the Altar of Ashes, and added a new final boss. A third major content patch is still in development ahead of the official release.
