OnePlus has announced the release of a special limited edition premium foldable phone on August 7 in India. Named the OnePlus Open Apex Edition, this model will offer enhanced storage, AI-powered image editing tools, and innovative security features. It will debut in a new color, Crimson Shadow, featuring a premium faux leather back panel with a textured finish, diamond-like pattern, and vibrant orange accents on the Alert Slider.

According to OnePlus, “Our most advanced technology is boldly integrated into the flagship foldable masterpiece, the OnePlus Open.” Users all across the world have praised the series since its launch last year, reversing the status quo and revolutionizing the foldable experience. “With the latest OnePlus Open Apex Edition, we’re pushing the envelope with even more features, providing an opulent experience that perfectly captures our ‘Never Settle’ philosophy.”

Aside from its new color scheme and design, the OnePlus Open Apex Edition will retain the same internal hardware specifications as the original OnePlus Open. The OnePlus Open features a 6.31-inch 2K AMOLED LTPO screen with a 120Hz refresh rate, 20:9 aspect ratio, and protection by Corning’s Ceramic Guard. Inside, it has a 7.82-inch 2K flexi-fluid AMOLED LPTO 3.0 screen, also with a 120Hz refresh rate, and supports up to 2,800 nits peak brightness, protected by a triple-layered shield including ultra-thin glass.

The OnePlus Open boasts a newly designed hinge and a foldable display that is sturdy and free of the typical crease seen in conventional foldable phones. The company has utilized several patented technologies to reduce the number of components to just 69 parts, compared to the usual 100+ components in standard folding hinge designs. High-quality carbon fiber and aerospace-grade metals, including titanium, have been used to make the device lightweight (239g) yet durable.

Powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor, the OnePlus Open comes with 16GB LPDDR5X RAM and 512GB UFS 4.0 storage, running on Android 13.2-based OxygenOS, optimized for a seamless user experience on a foldable phone. It includes a 4,805mAh battery with 67W charging support.

The OnePlus Open houses a Hasselblad triple-camera module with a 48MP main camera (LYTIA-T808 sensor, Dual-layer Transistor Pixel technology, OIS), a 48MP ultra-wide sensor, and a 64MP telephoto lens (OIS) with LED flash. The cover display features a 32MP camera, and the internal display has a 20MP sensor.

For Rs 1,39,999, you can get the regular OnePlus Open foldable phone (16GB RAM + 512GB) in two colors: emerald dusk and voyager black. There will be a bigger storage option available with the next Apex Edition.
