Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL) has achieved a remarkable milestone by producing 3 million units of its popular sedan, the Dzire. This accomplishment comes in just under 17 years since the model’s initial launch in 2008, showcasing its enduring popularity among Indian car buyers. Previously, the Dzire crossed 1 million units in April 2015 and then 2 million in June 2019, reflecting its consistent demand.

Building on the success of India’s top-selling sedan, Maruti Suzuki recently unveiled the latest generation of the Dzire, which has been warmly received by customers. This achievement places the Dzire alongside other MSIL icons like the Alto, Swift, and Wagon R, all of which have also surpassed the 3 million production milestone. Commenting on this significant achievement, Hisashi Takeuchi, Managing Director & CEO of MSIL, expressed gratitude to customers, stating: “We genuinely appreciate our consumers’ constant support and trust, which have been essential in helping us achieve this milestone. Their feedback inspires us to continuously innovate and improve. The latest Dzire, introduced last month, reflects this dedication with its modern design, advanced features, and exceptional fuel efficiency, further strengthening its position as a market leader.”

Since its debut in 2008, the Dzire has undergone substantial transformations. The second generation arrived in 2012, followed by the third in 2017, with the fourth-generation model launching in November 2024. The newest version features an updated design, stylish dual-tone interiors, and several segment-first innovations, enhancing its appeal in the competitive sedan market.

The Dzire’s reputation extends well beyond India, garnering admiration in international markets. Since exports began in October 2008, around 2.6 lakh units have been shipped to 48 countries, including Latin and Central America, Africa, Southeast Asia, and the Middle East. It was Maruti Suzuki’s second-highest exporting model in FY 2023–2024.

With 16 years as the segment leader, the Dzire has played a pivotal role in Maruti Suzuki’s dominance in the sedan category. Its regular updates, affordability, robust features, and reliable performance have solidified its legacy in India’s automotive landscape.
