There is an intense rivalry between the Hyundai i20 and Tata Altroz in the premium hatchback class. Although Baleno is still the clear favorite, Altroz beat i20 in FY24. With a lead of only 174 units, greater outcomes are still possible. Given that Altroz Racer’s primary aim is the i20 N Line model, it can likely do its magic.
Training for Tata Altroz Racer Dealers Begins:
The Altroz Racer is going to be the new flagship model. Altroz Racer will receive a wide range of best in category features, according to a leaked internal dealer presentation. A 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, voice-activated electric sunroof, head-up display, ventilated leatherette seats, and a 360-degree surround view camera are among its features. Electronic stability control (ESC) and six airbags will be included as standard features.
The center console, gear lever, and AC vents all have high contrast details that make the interiors look extremely stylish. The racing stripes are added to the seats, and the contrast stitching makes a statement. The steering wheel and gear knob covered in leather also have elegant contrast stitching. Red ambient lighting adds even more ambience to the cabin.
Performance of Altroz Racer:
An 88 PS 1.2-liter NA petrol engine, a 110 PS 1.2-liter turbo petrol engine, and a 90 hp 1.5-liter turbo diesel engine are the available powertrain options for base Altroz vehicles. Additionally, a CNG alternative is offered for the 1.2-liter NA petrol engine.
Nexon will supply the 1.2-liter turbocharged petrol engine to Altroz Racer. It produces 170 Nm and 120 PS. The hatchback’s performance will undoubtedly increase with an increase of 10 PS and 30 Nm. It is expected that the Altroz Racer will only be available with a manual 6-speed transmission.
The i20 N Line versus Altroz Racer:
The Hyundai i20 N line, in contrast, comes with a 1.0-liter turbo petrol engine that produces 120 PS and 172 Nm. There are two types of transmissions available: a 6-speed manual and a 7-speed dual clutch (7 DCT).
Because of its sporty exterior and interior, the i20 N Line is recommended. High-end facilities include a wireless charger, leather seats decorated with the N emblem and a chequered flag pattern, red contrast stitching and piping on the seats, and a leather-wrapped gear knob. Sporty metal pedals, a USB Type C fast charger, and a digital instrument cluster with a TFT multi-information display are features of the hatch. The Bose premium 7-speaker sound system, a 10.25-inch HD touchscreen infotainment and navigation system, and a digital display FATC are all included.
With a number of best-in-class features and strong performance, Altroz Racer is capable of challenging i20 N Line. In addition, Altroz has a 5-star Global NCAP safety certification, while the i20 only obtained a 3-star rating for the 2022 model. On the other hand, Altroz Racer’s lack of an automated gearbox may work against it in comparison to the i20 N Line. The price range for the Tata Altroz Racer is expected to be between Rs 10 lakh and Rs 12.52 lakh.
