Limited to just 5,000 units, Land Rover is commemorating the 35th anniversary of the Discovery SUV with a special edition that will serve as the new flagship model for the whole portfolio. Alongside the 35th Edition, the Discovery will get a new, more potent D350 diesel-hybrid powertrain, which will take the place of the D300 model. To differentiate it from the rest of the lineup and add a little of exclusivity, the 35th anniversary version will come with the new powertrain in addition to significant comfort and visual enhancements.

First debuted in 1989, the Land Rover Discovery is currently in its fifth generation. Although positioning the Discovery Series I at a lower price point, Land Rover used the same chassis, suspension, and four-wheel drive system as the more expensive Range Rover. It was designed to be a family vehicle that could be used for both off-roading and daily travel, with smaller engines and only two doors.

The Discovery’s diesel-hybrid engine produces 345 horsepower

A new D350 diesel-hybrid drivetrain will be fitted to the Land Rover Discovery. An eight-speed automatic transmission and a 3.0-liter Ingenium six-cylinder diesel engine with 48V mild hybrid technology power the complete setup. The Land Rover is not the first vehicle to be powered by the Ingenium unit. It had been its debut both in the Range Rover and the newly revised Defender series.

With the Ingenium mild hybrid producing 345 bhp and 700 Nm of torque, the D350 outperforms the discontinued D300 by about 49 bhp and 50 Nm of torque. According to Land Rover, the Discovery can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.9 seconds with its new powertrain.

Crucial features of the 35th edition of Land Rover Discovery

The Land Rover Discovery 35th Edition will be available in “strictly limited numbers,” according to the firm. The ‘Discovery’ treadplates and unique XXXV badging, which showcase the SUV’s 1989 heritage, will serve as distinguishing features for the special edition cars. The Discovery 35th Edition will be priced higher than the Discovery Metropolitan, at 79,990 pounds sterling (about 86.3 lakh).

According to the British company, the Discovery 35th Edition will get unique exterior style, like Bright Atlas details for the front emblem and grille. After that, there are 22-inch gloss black wheels with matching black brake callipers, as well as lower bumper inserts in Hakuba Silver. Also planned for the Discovery 35th Edition are a panoramic sunroof and a privacy glass.

Land Rover has detailed the interior in Titanium Mesh with Ebony upholstery and Windsor leather colorways since a special edition car will need extra care. The Discovery 35th Edition from Land Rover comes equipped with a heads-up display, a front cooler, a wireless charging slot, a heated steering wheel, and four-zone temperature control.

In addition to the previously mentioned comfort amenities, the Discovery 35th Edition will also come with 20-way heated and cooled seats. In addition, Land Rover is providing a 36-month subscription for the Towing pack, Cold Climate pack, and Secure Tracker Pro. One of the most feature-rich and adaptable SUVs is the Land Rover Discovery, which can tow 3,500 pounds when fitted with Advanced Tow Assist. All Terrain Progress Control helps drivers maintain speed over challenging terrain while operating the Discovery.
