A new feature that could allow users to share files with contacts nearby is being developed by WhatsApp. File transfers via Bluetooth are possible with WhatsApp for Android’s most recent beta version (2.24.2.17). Google and Samsung recently renamed the built-in file-sharing tool on Android, Quick Share, and enhanced it. File sharing between Windows and Chrome OS PCs and Android phones will be made easier with this new feature. It offers a quicker and more useful option by allowing users to exchange files up to 2GB in size when compared to more traditional methods like using cloud storage or sending files over chat.

For the transfer to be effective, both users need to be in the “People Nearby” section of the app and stay there, claims WABetaInfo. File sharing will remain as secure as it is with WhatsApp’s default configuration thanks to end-to-end encryption. It’s fascinating to note that sharing requires consumers to shake their phones. By effectively handling it for privacy, end-to-end encryption guarantees the safety and security of the file transport. Inaccessible phone numbers are hidden and prevented from being shared with anyone who aren’t on the contact list by the encryption.

File Sharing via WhatsApp Nearby:

Regular WhatsApp users will benefit from this new feature. However, it seems a bit pointless in front of Google and Samsung’s latest Quick Share update. However, if WhatsApp works on both iOS and Android, its features might be revolutionary. If not, other systems might still have better built-in solutions. According to reports, WhatsApp is working on adding a file-sharing feature. This feature might show up in a future app version, but it’s unclear if or when the stable version of the software will get it.

The company previously unveiled four new features for WhatsApp Channels users. The functions offered in channels have been increased by The Messaging Corporation. Users can run polls, send audio messages, have numerous admins, and post updates from the channels on their WhatsApp status.
