LG is getting a head start on CES 2025 by unveiling its latest lineup of gaming monitors, spearheaded by the UltraGear OLED Bendable Gaming Monitor. Marketed as the “world’s first 5K2K-resolution bendable OLED display,” this claim might sound ultra-specific, but it’s a notable milestone nonetheless. The 45-inch screen boasts a resolution of 5120×2160, offering the vertical pixel count of a standard 4K display while stretching its width to provide an expansive gaming canvas.

Designed with a 21:9 aspect ratio, LG aims to deliver a gaming experience that’s far more immersive than traditional 16:9 displays while maintaining better compatibility with content compared to ultra-wide 32:9 monitors. This wider format is also ideal for multitasking and productivity, making it versatile beyond gaming sessions.

The UltraGear OLED Bendable Gaming Monitor (model 45GX990A) stands out with its ability to switch from a completely flat screen to a curved 900R form. It also features LG’s updated Dual-Mode function, enabling users to effortlessly toggle between resolution and refresh rate presets, as well as adjust the aspect ratio and screen size. Certified for Nvidia G-Sync and AMD FreeSync Premium Pro, it’s designed for smooth gameplay, though LG hasn’t yet specified its maximum refresh rate.

Additionally, LG is offering a non-bendable version with a fixed 800R curve. This model shares many specifications with its bendable counterpart, including the 45-inch size, 5K2K resolution, and 21:9 aspect ratio. Both monitors promise vivid, lifelike visuals, courtesy of LG’s renowned OLED technology, and feature a lightning-fast 0.03ms (GtG) response time. Connectivity options include DisplayPort 2.1, HDMI 2.1, and USB-C with 90W power delivery. To enhance productivity, the fixed model (45GX950A) employs an RGWB subpixel layout, optimizing text clarity for extended use.

LG is also debuting the UltraGear 39GX90SA, a smaller 39-inch curved gaming monitor that doubles as a smart entertainment hub powered by webOS. Designed for seamless access to streaming services, it borrows elements from Samsung’s smart monitor approach. Featuring a 21:9 aspect ratio and an 800R curve, it’s equipped with USB Type-C ports for easy connectivity and includes an ergonomic L-shaped stand to keep desk setups clean and organized.

With these innovative models, LG is cementing its position as a leader in gaming and productivity displays.
